The Advocate: Louisiana's uninsured rate drops dramatically after Medicaid expansion, survey finds
|

Expanding Medicaid remains one of my proudest decisions as governor. Securing health coverage for over 450,000 hardworking Louisianans was the right thing to do, and the early results speak for themselves.

A new report out from the Census Bureau found that 19,000 fewer people in our state were uninsured in 2018, in large part because we expanded Medicaid back in 2016! And amazingly, we've cut the uninsured rate in half since 2016 – even while the national uninsured rate grew over the same period. Louisiana is now leading the way as one of the few states in the nation that has decreasing uninsured rates.

Despite the clear benefits for our people and state, my opponents are determined to undercut Medicaid expansion. That’s why this reelection campaign is so crucial. We’re defending the progress we’ve made as a state, and I need the help of folks like you to make that happen.

Before midnight, I need to show that 1,500 supporters stand with me on protecting Medicaid expansion. Let me know where you stand now:
