Our freedom comes at a price, a price that our veterans and their families selflessly pay for us. Just this week, we saw one of the many freedoms our veterans have made possible: the right of Americans to choose their leaders. Next week, we celebrate the men and women who made that possible on Veterans Day.
Part of what makes OH-15 so great is that our region has nearly 50,000 veterans who have fought for the principles, freedoms, and liberties we are so lucky to enjoy every day, and it's my goal to honor and recognize every incredible veteran in Ohio's 15th District. But I need your help to make this happen.
Unfortunately, there are many of America's veterans who fall under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s high-risk category for COVID-19. They have had to take more extreme measures during COVID, such as staying home and away from their family members, to stay safe and healthy during the pandemic. While we can’t celebrate them in person, we can’t let their sacrifices go unacknowledged. Over the coming days, I will be sharing the stories of local veterans on my social media channels. Many of these stories come from the two editions of my book, Faces of the 15th. However, I know that there are countless more stories of bravery and sacrifice, and I’m asking you to share them with me. No two stories are alike; there are countless more memories that I truly believe all of our neighbors will benefit from hearing.
If someone you know is a veteran, please consider emailing a military-related photo of the person to my office at [email protected]. Included with the photo should be an explanation of what their service (or your service) meant to you, along with the following information:
Name
Military Branch
Rank
Years of Service
War or Conflict (if applicable)
Address in Ohio's 15th District
Phone Number
Brief Bio (less than 250 words)
The deadline to submit information is November 10, 2020. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at 202-225-2015.
The Faces of the 15th book, second edition, shown above. |
Last year, I released the second edition of my Faces of the 15 th book, pictured above, featuring stories of local veterans. Both editions of this book honor veterans from every community in Ohio's 15th District. These veterans have truly inspired and made a difference in the lives of many. This year, I look forward to sharing some of their stories with you throughout the next week.
