15 new pro-life congresswomen elected to US Congress! ()
While the Presidential election is still ongoing, some excellent news from the United States is that the number of pro-life women elected to the US Congress has more than doubled following this week’s results in Tuesday’s congressional elections.
A record 15 new pro-life congresswomen were elected, in addition to all 11 pro-life women incumbents also being re-elected.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of the Susan B. Anthony List, a leading pro-life organisation in the US that backs pro-life candidates, said:
“We’re so proud of these women who will be a bold voice for moms and unborn babies on Capitol Hill and we look forward to working with them to save lives!”
Additional congressional races have yet to be decided. It is expected the number of new pro-life congresswomen will expand even more.
In the Senate race, outgoing pro-life senators Joni Ernst, Shelley Moore Capito and Cindy Hyde-Smith were all successfully re-elected. And pro-life Cynthia Lummis from Wyoming won election to the senate for the first time. She previously served in the US House of Representatives.
This week’s outstanding results underscore the growing strength of the pro-life movement in the US and how years of sterling and unflagging pro-life effort is increasingly paying dividends in helping turn the tide in a pro-life direction. We should take great heart and encouragement from this week’s results.
New Zealand votes to legalise euthanasia despite huge opposition from doctors ()
The official results of New Zealand's euthanasia referendum were announced this week, and they were very disappointing from a pro-life point of view.
Despite over 1800 doctors signing a public letter against euthanasia, the public failed to listen to the advice of the 'Doctors Say No' campaign. Many of the leading campaigners against the Bill were people with disabilities and terminal illnesses themselves.
Tetraplegic woman Claire Freeman, publicly spoke about how “being offered assisted suicide instead of suicide support was disturbing” when she was recovering from a car crash in hospital.
The vote passed 65%-34%, and will come into effect on 6th November 2021. The large margin of victory arose despite opposition from the New Zealand Medical Association, the World Medical Association, and Hospice New Zealand.
A human rights lawyer with Multiple Sclerosis publicly criticised the law ahead of the vote. Dr Huhana Hickey said
“I don’t believe this law is safe for the disability community, for the Māori community or for anyone who has a risk factor in their lives.”
Gino Kenny TD has introduced an even more radical euthanasia bill in Ireland, and if passed will put vulnerable people at risk. Must see interview!! Ryan Bomberger shares his phenomenal personal story with Wendy Grace for the Pro Life Campaign National Conference 2020 and talks about the origins of Planned Parenthood, an organisation and industry he describes as the “very definition of systemic racism” in the United States. He cites the horrifying statistic that 79% of abortion clinics in the US are located in predominantly black neighbourhoods and how in New York City more black babies aborted than born alive. To inform yourself and to be inspired, don’t miss this this really amazing interview!!
