This year has been marked by enormous grief and profound loss, but our
communities are resilient and we have pulled one another through.
On Tuesday, and in the weeks before, voters in Massachusetts and around
the country decisively rejected the politics of hatred and division and
chose instead to elect leaders who will fight for our communities.
I am so proud to have been re-elected to represent the residents of the
Massachusetts 7th. It is the greatest honor of my life, and I am
profoundly grateful for your support, your partnership, your sweat equity,
and your laboring in love.
And I know that the state of our movement is strong. On Tuesday, my
sisters-in-service Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib
were all re-elected, and we’ll be joined in Congress by Jamaal Bowman,
Cori Bush, Mondaire Jones, Marie Newman, and more leaders committed to
legislating bold, transformative change, from Medicare for All to the
People’s Justice Guarantee to a Green New Deal.
Together, we will continue to organize, to mobilize, and to legislate.
We’ll continue to fight for the humanity and dignity of our neighbors, and
we’ll choose hope and strategy in the face of adversity.
Because this movement is about more than the transaction of a vote. We
organize to build community. We organize to build a more just world. We
organize not just for an election cycle, but for the upliftment of
community and the advancement of PROGRESS.
It is possible to legislate justice and accountability. To choose people
over profits. Joy over trauma. Freedom over fear. Yes it is possible to
write budgets that actually value Black Lives.
In this moment, take good care of yourself. Hold your loved ones close.
And ready yourselves for the meaningful work ahead. We will write the next
chapter of this nation’s history. TOGETHER.
In solidarity,
Ayannna Pressley
