We need your help to prevent families like this mother and daughter being forced to take these terrible risks

Dear John

Winter will be tough for all of us this year. But in the Middle East, where millions of people have been displaced from their homes, life is about to become even harder.

Temperatures are plummeting. In places including Syria, Iraq and Yemen, they will soon dip below freezing. Refugee families are battling against the cold and the threat of COVID-19 with no place to call home.

Your act of kindness could make all the difference.

This winter, kindness feels like a thick blanket and a safe, dry place to stay. This winter, kindness feels like a warm jacket and a roaring fire. Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable as they struggle to keep warm. Your kindness is needed now for timely protection ahead of winter - before it is too late and the conditions become life-threatening.

Donate to UNHCR now, and we’ll use your generous gift to protect refugees:

€250 could provide a family of five with a full winter kit, including high thermal blankets, sleeping bags, jackets, and plastic sheets, to prepare for winter

€150 could provide three families with cash assistance to cover their additional expenses, such as fuel and electricity

€50 could give two families solar lamps for long winter nights

We can’t thank you enough.

P.S. Did you know solar lamps not only brighten up long winter nights, but help protect women and girls from gender-based violence when having to walk in the dark.
