standuprepublic.com/ [standuprepublic.com/]Hi John,
You might have noticed that there’s a national competition happening right now. No, I’m not talking about the election, exactly… I’m talking about the contest to control the narrative about the election. As vote totals seem to continue to climb in Biden’s favor, Trump and his allies are working overtime to spread lies about fraud. That’s dangerous, and we need to fight back with the truth.
So let’s dispense with some of the lies:
1) Trump and his team keep alleging voter fraud — they haven’t provided a single example or shred of proof.
2) People claimed Trump ballots were being invalidated for using sharpie markers. Multiple Secretaries of State have debunked this, because the ballots are designed to work with markers.
3) It is true that the ballots being counted now are heavily favoring Democrats (though not everywhere). But that isn’t a sign of fraud. Instead, it’s a result of the President’s own campaign to convince his voters not to vote by mail, and the failure of legislatures to prepare to process mail-in ballots before election day. In short, Democrats largely voted early and by mail, meaning their votes are disproportionately being counted AFTER the in-person results, which have been fully announced. This was expected, and in fact many people warned about this problem months in advance.
4) No, Republican poll watchers haven’t been refused entry to counting locations. Non-certified protestors have gathered to demand access, but they are justifiably not allowed in. Videos of crowds of “poll watchers” are nothing more than protestors who should not be let in.
5) Was Philadelphia refusing to let Republican poll officials do their jobs? No. It was prohibiting ALL poll workers from coming within 6 feet of actual vote counters for public health reasons. The Trump campaign sued to give watchers the opportunity to watch more closely, and did win. But Republican poll watchers were watching the entire time, and were subject to the same rules as Democrats.
6) What about that grainy photo of a box of ballots sitting on a wagon? Well, that was actually a photographer’s camera equipment, confirmed by the local news outlet that he works for.
7) But Trump is suing over fraud. They say they have proof! The Trump campaign has already lost one case, in Georgia, because they didn’t have any evidence for their claim. In other places where they’ve publicly said they are suing, they haven’t even filed the paperwork to start. In short, they’ve offered no proof, and their threats may well be empty. But if they do file a suit, it should be heard according to the law. And maybe that’s what they’re afraid of.
In short, there’s a lot of disinformation and misinformation out there. It’s designed not to ensure a fair and honest election, but instead to discredit it so that Trump can claim he won. We can’t allow those efforts to go unchecked. We have to stand up for the truth, and reject efforts by Trump and his enablers to undermine confidence in our democratic process. Be a warrior for the truth, and help us debunk these lies wherever you find them.
