One of the bedrocks of our democracy is the fundamental right to vote, it’s what gives us the power over our government, and it’s our last, best measure to hold leaders accountable. But, our elections are under threat from hostile foreign governments and distant operatives who are trying to undermine our ability to choose our leaders.

The Russian government interfered in our election in 2016 and we know that the Kremlin and others are trying to do it again in 2020.  And yet, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refuses to bring any election security bills to the floor for a vote. We must demand that our Senators act to secure our elections once and for all.

It is up to us to fight for our elections, and tell our Senators to strengthen our voting systems and defend our rights. Can you take 2 minutes -- right now -- to email your Senators and demand that they protect our elections?

What kind of actions could your Senators help make a reality? They could ensure online ads disclose their sponsors, keeping foreign agents out of our politics. They could do more to help states protect their voting systems. And they could deter future foreign attacks by punishing those responsible in the past with harsh sanctions. They could also create a duty for all candidates and campaign workers to report any foreign agents who contact them in order to meddle in our elections.

These policies are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to protecting our elections. But it’s up to our Senators to put these basic defense measures into law. That’s why we have to demand they act now, before the 2020 elections.

Foreign adversaries hope that we lose faith in our freedom and abandon the Constitutional government which has helped us flourish for generations. But, our free and fair elections are a cornerstone of our democracy; we must continue to defend and improve them.

Ensuring that our elections are secure and that we the people choose our leaders is critical in maintaining our freedom. So tell your Senators that you expect them to stand up for the Republic by passing critical election security measures in the Senate.
