Donald Trump spent his campaign cycle lying to Americans -- and he shows no sign of stopping his lies.

As a New York Times opinion piece states, "Trump's lies about an anarchist threat have given encouragement to white supremacists, including domestic terrorists. His dismissal of the pandemic threat, his mocking of precautionary measures like mask-wearing, have done a lot to help the coronavirus spread."

Now Trump is calling foul on legitimate election results, throwing out different baseless claims -- illegal voting, Democratic chicanery, wild conspiracy theories -- to see what sticks.

But Donald Trump is a losing president. You might ask: what's the worst a few tantrums could do? The fact is that even if Joe Biden wins, Trump's destructiveness doesn't rely on impacting policy but rather on knowing that his rhetoric "affects how millions of Americans behave."

We know that Trump's baseless claims are finding a receptive audience -- especially given that a Gallup survey found that 90 percent of Republicans expected a Trump win. As Trump's conspiracy-minded base reacts with shock and rage, we're standing by the facts and calling on Americans to do the same.
