I am writing this message of solidarity and standing together not only as Oxfam America's President, but also as a voter, a parent, a citizen, and perhaps most importantly, a humanitarian.

This is not the kind of message I typically write - because, of course, none of what's happening is typical, at least not in the US. In the world? Yes. In my work, I have experienced what it feels like to wait and to worry whether every single person's vote will be counted.

And yet, I see resilience and commitment everywhere! Despite being in the middle of a global pandemic, we voted in record numbers. That's why I am inspired to be patient and finish what we started - to ensure every vote is counted. I fervently believe that representation and voice, through voting, matters.

Even with all of this uncertainty and instability, one thing is beyond question: Oxfam America's role in this moment. I know I speak for all of my colleagues when I say that no matter what, we are ever more committed to a just world without poverty. Today we remain rooted in foundational values of compassion, understanding, and kindness. And one more value: action. Action for what's fair and with those who need it most. That too is part of our roots - and never has it been more critical.

Thank you for your unwavering support and for fighting for what is right. I believe in you. I believe in us. And I believe that every vote must be counted.
