While we still wait for all votes to be counted and a winner to be declared in the 2020 presidential race — and we are increasingly confident it will be Joe Biden — here’s a way you can make a difference and help us take back the U.S. Senate from Mitch McConnell: the U.S. Senate special election runoff in Georgia.
In the Georgia Senate race between Democrat Rev. Raphael Warnock and Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler, neither candidate received 50% or more of the vote, so the race is now advancing to a runoff on January 5th.
Rev. Warnock came in first in Tuesday’s election, amazingly outperforming his millionaire opponent who spent $23 million of her own personal fortune on this key special election.
We have about two months to further build grassroots momentum for Rev. Warnock in this head-to-head runoff between him and Loeffler, who we know will spend untold amounts of money to attack and defeat him in order to keep the Senate red.

In case you don’t remember, let me tell you a little bit more about these candidates. Rev. Warnock is a pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church — the former pulpit of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — as well as a community leader and advocate for civil rights, affordable health care and a living wage. If he wins this runoff, he’ll make history by becoming the first African American senator to ever represent Georgia.
Meanwhile, his opponent is a massive Trump supporter who gained notoriety last year when she dumped $20 million in stock after receiving private briefings about the danger of the coronavirus, at the same time Trump and Republicans were downplaying it.
Rev. Warnock is running for U.S. Senate in Georgia to expand access to health care, for the dignity of working people, and to fight voter suppression — we need him in Washington now more than ever, and if he wins, we’ll Flip the Senate.
