Dear John,
When COVID-19 first hit, we knew that without a change to the status quo vulnerable workers would be left behind. From the beginning, we worked with grassroots organizations representing excluded workers and together we began the fight for excluded workers. DC Jobs with Justice led the inside strategy while the amazing Exclude Workers Action Team took to the streets. Together we called on Councilmembers to make emergency aid inclusive. We refused to let Chairman Mendelson and other members of DC Council ignore the needs of our communities. Instead, we took the stories of excluded workers to their doorsteps and ultimately won $14 million that will benefit thousands of workers and their families.
We are incredibly proud to recognize the Excluded Workers Action Team as an honoree of this year’s I’ll Be There Awards. We're celebrating Many Languages One Voice, HIPS, ROC-DC, the National Domestic Workers Alliance, and African Communities Together for their leadership! Be sure to join us on November 18th to celebrate their amazing work.
If you have the resources please consider also donating. Your support will help us continue to fight alongside our movement allies in 2021. And, if you donate today you'll get our special Excluded Worker solidarity button in time to wear it at the I'll Be There Awards!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Falcon
