John,
Our Justice Democrats are seeing some incredible momentum. In just the last week, Jessica Cisneros’ campaign was given a full page feature in the New York Times, as people have finally started paying attention to Cuellar’s brazen allegiance to the NRA:
And then, on the 25th anniversary of the 1994 Crime Bill, Jamaal Bowman publicly called for a repeal of the legislation that formed the groundwork of the school-to-prison pipeline in a NowThis video:
These campaigns are bigger than all of us. They’re about starting conversations, dealing with the progressive change Americans deserve, engaging voters from across the country, and forcing out-of-touch incumbents to answer for their misdeeds.
We’re just getting started. But today, we need to ask you for help — every month, our team sets fundraising goals that we need to meet to hire organizers, build community programs, and support new progressive candidates.
These won’t be easy races to win. Corporate incumbents have had years to build donor networks with massive companies, wealthy and powerful elites, and Democratic Party stakeholders.
But if we organize on the ground, hustle, and work together, we can overcome their advantages. As people learn about what we’re fighting for, they join our cause, knowing we’re fighting for a better future for the diverse, working-class people of this country.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
