Cannabis company makes first-ever purchase of a beer brewer

Aphria, a Canadian cannabis company, plans to purchase Atlanta-based craft brewer SweetWater Brewing Co. for $300 million. This deal makes Aphria the first major pot producer to enter the alcoholic beverages market. It also gives the cannabis company a U.S. distribution point as marijuana is gaining broader acceptance and legalization in the country.

Molson Coors considers scrapping some offerings amid can shortage

The aluminum can shortage continues to disrupt the beverage industry, now forcing Molson Coors to consider streamlining its portfolio, following a pattern of other companies. Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have already announced intentions to cut their current offerings. Molson Coors CEO Gavin Hattersley said, "From a complexity point of view, from a brewery point of view, I would expect that we will have less SKUs coming up when we come out of this pandemic than we did coming into the pandemic."

Guinness releases its first holiday beer nationwide

Halloween is over and November is in full swing, which means it's time to break out the holiday decorations -- and the holiday drinks. The Guinness Imperial Gingerbread Spiced Stout sounds like a pretty festive way to celebrate the season. The special holiday release will be sold nationwide in the U.S. starting this week.
