John,
Let’s get right down to it: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have clearly won this election, and the final vote count will prove it.
And they won thanks to Black voters, and thanks to our volunteers, members and donors. Not only did Black voters turn out in record numbers -- Black communities and leaders made racial justice a central issue in this campaign, which motivated millions of people to vote.
In a year filled with darkness, our Voting While Black program created spaces filled with light. We centered Black joy as a source of empowerment, from text-a-thons to Black Women’s brunches. Our National Weekend of Black Joy in Black communities ensured that our friends and family were in good spirits, protected and proactive about making a plan to vote.
Together, we started about 6.1 million text conversations with Black voters and we called close to 640,000 Black voters. We sent nearly 4 million pieces of direct mail, all with critical information about how to vote, and about candidates in dozens of different races. Our digital ads were seen almost 70 million times this year.
John, whatever lies ahead, I know we’ll be side by side in the struggle-- to catch one another, lift one another up, and remind one another that we are much more powerful than we even yet realize.
As we learn more about these results, we'll reach out with actions and next steps. But for now, I’m so glad you’re a part of this movement to build a safe, just, equitable future for Black people.
Until justice is real,
Rashad and the Color Of Change PAC team
