A 16 year-old has captured the world’s attention.
She started by holding a homemade sign on the steps of the Swedish parliament every Friday, protesting her government’s climate inaction. She gave a TED Talk — and sailed across an ocean. And this week, Greta Thunberg will testify before a U.S. congressional committee and lead millions of people around the world in demanding action to address the climate crisis.
The leaders of the world are paying attention — and this week could supercharge a movement that will change the course of history. We need to seize this opportunity, and stand with the youth leaders who are making it happen.
Here's what you can do to help:
1) Make Congress Listen:
President Trump’s refusal to act to protect Americans from the biggest environmental threat we have ever seen is actually giving us a chance to step back, set goals, and create a clear plan to achieve them.
The first step is getting as many members of Congress on board. Take action today, and tell your Rep it’s time for the US to move to a 100% clean energy economy.
2) Show Support on Social:
Once you've taken action, ask your friends & family to follow your lead on
Facebook and
Twitter — and
don't forget to use the #strikewithus hashtag to show you're part of the Global Climate Strike movement!
3) Join an Event Near You:
Events will be taking place across the country on Friday, September 20th. If you're able to take the day off,
find an event near you and show up to show your support!
This is history in the making — and you get to be a part of it, whether you can be there in person or show your support from home.
Thank you for all you do,
