The decriminalize education and police-free school movement did not start this year. This movement has existed for decades. For our young people to feel safe, thrive, and succeed in education, we must remove police from schools and provide more holistic supports. This includes restorative practices, mental health supports, wraparound services, and eliminating punitive and carceral discipline practices.
