Howdy Comrade,
As democratic socialists, we know that democracy is more than the right to cast a vote. There's little democracy when billionaires grow rich off the the work we do and the value we create, when homes stand empty but people remain unhoused, when extractive industries poison our communities and leave us with nothing but sickness, and when we're forced into the false choice of forgoing treatment or going bankrupt from medical debt.
Both the economy and society must be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. We need Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, housing and jobs guarantees, fully-funded community schools in every neighborhood, and so much more. Our fight for the world we need doesn't stop at the ballot box.
The system is built to make us feel like change is impossible. But when we organize as the working class and fight back, we can win. Workers have won before. From the mass strike waves of the 1930s to the Black Freedom Movement, the working class has altered the history of this country and we're not done yet.
We can and must organize today for a better world.
