Dear John:
With unprecedented turnout and a significant number of mail-in ballots to count Tuesday night, it is more important than ever that we give our election officials the time they need to count every vote. Whether in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin or Michigan, the goal is simple - count every vote, everywhere.
While our numbers looked strong Tuesday, in many places around the district vote counting went well into the night. That is why I held off on an announcement of our results until today. With all precincts now reporting, I am deeply grateful that the voters of our region have given me the chance to represent them again in the upcoming 117th Congress.
It is the honor of a lifetime to represent eastern Connecticut. Your support has helped us win another solid victory and keep this seat blue. Thank you.
Much remains uncertain about the landscape we’ll face next year. Regardless of how things shake out, I am committed, as I have always been, to working across the aisle to find a path forward on the most pressing needs for folks in eastern Connecticut.
This has been a year like no other, and this was an election like no other. To the town clerks, registrars, and volunteers who stepped up at a critical time for our democracy—thank you. Their service has been truly remarkable, and it’s thanks to them that our democracy was able to perform in the midst of a global pandemic. Their extraordinary service to our nation should inspire a sense of pride in every American.
I also want to also thank my fellow candidates running with me down ballot. Running for office is not easy in a normal year, and 2020 was a particularly challenging time for anyone to put themselves forward and run a campaign. I commend them for their hard work.
Thank you, again, for all you have done to support my campaign.
