Dear John,
My name is Joseph Goldstein. Many of you have heard my story: at age 13 I was diagnosed with high-risk leukemia, and when asked to “Make A Wish” I decided my heart’s greatest desire was to defend the Boundary Waters from the threat posed by sulfide-ore copper mining within its watershed.
For nearly six years now I’ve been neck-deep in this fight, and since I finished chemotherapy, I've been working as hard as I can on behalf of the Boundary Waters. Two years ago I launched Kids For The Boundary Waters [[link removed]] , a project aimed at inspiring, empowering and teaching young people how to be active, engaged citizens and effectively communicate with our lawmakers on behalf of the Wilderness.
Thanks to a generous commitment by the National Parks Conservation Association and The Wilderness Society, your tax-deductible donation will be matched up to $10,000 if you give before September 27! [[link removed]]
On top of local and state political work, Kids4BW has now hosted two fly-ins to Washington D.C., guiding more than 130 youth from across the country in advocacy training and then through 2.5 intense days of back-to-back meetings with lawmakers and administration officials. These trips have tremendous impact, due entirely to the amazing and heartwarming stories of the passionate, dedicated young advocates who participate. Over the next two weeks they’ll be sharing these stories - and their love of the BWCA - with you.
Congressman Dean Phillips publicly called Kids4BW, “the most effective lobbying group in D.C.,” and we take our charge very seriously. We have one chance to save America’s wilderness. Please join our efforts and donate to defend the Boundary Waters now. [[link removed]?
