When we launched this campaign 631 days ago, I could have never anticipated just how many people would become a part of this mission.

I am so deeply honored that Arizonans have trusted me to be their next United States Senator.

But before I go too far, I want to just say thank you to everyone who chipped in a few bucks. Who made phone calls, sent texts, knocked on doors or volunteered: this would not have been possible without you.

This doesn't feel like a typical election. This hasn't been a typical year. That's why today isn't about celebrating, today is about getting to work.

When I was at NASA, we'd train two years for a shuttle mission. Two years of simulators and practicing our various responsibilities while we're in space. Two years before we were on the launch pad ready to go, and then the work started. Well today, the work starts.

We need a Congress that works to solve the issues everyday folks are facing, and we need them to use science, data and facts to craft policies that will improve people's lives -- that's what I plan to do.

So let's make sure we feel this win, because we put so much into it to get here, but then we get to work.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve Arizona and this country, it means the world to me that so many of you were a part of this people-powered campaign.
