Dear Team —
We won’t sugarcoat anything. This was one tight election — much tighter than many people hoped for. But we remain absolutely confident that when all the votes are counted Joe Biden will be the President-elect of the United States.
When he is sworn in, he’ll be greeted by newly elected Arizona Senator Mark Kelly who you helped propel into office, and once the votes are counted, we believe a re-elected Senator Gary Peters. Importantly, thanks to this team, President Biden will have strong partners in our slate of veterans who are returning to the House to serve in the Majority.
You all made this happen. This election cycle VoteVets volunteers sent over 2 million texts to veteran and military family members in swing states. Astonishingly, the veterans and military family members we contacted voted at a higher rate than average voters, meaning our work to increase turnout was key in an election this tight.
We also were supportive of veteran candidates from coast to coast, fundraising and for these incredible folks while running online ads against Donald Trump — ads that were viewed tens of millions of times. All told, we spent over $25 million to elect veterans and defeat Traitor Trump. Your donations made all of this critical work possible.
So, where do we go from here? First and foremost, we are going to push to count every vote. The outstanding mail-in ballots include military ballots and votes of veterans along with the votes of citizens who have the Constitutional right to have their vote counted.
After that we will take a good measure of where we stand and begin preparing to help Joe Biden deliver on the progressive policies we all support, especially as it pertains to our troops, military families, and veterans.
I can promise you this: You’re going to be key to our success, as you always are. Together we have done amazing things. Some election nights are Blue Waves and some nights are tight. But it is because of you that we continue to make progress.
Thank you for everything. Your support has meant the world to us.
Best,
Jon Soltz
