Hi John,
Let's be honest: This isn't the feeling we hoped for. We wanted moral victory, a landslide repudiating Trump's moral bankruptcy. That didn’t happen. But political victory is within reach. Biden is ahead where he needs to be and is slowly advancing as the mail-in votes are counted. He’ll likely win when all the votes are counted over the next few days.
We're in a waiting game, holding our breath till every vote gets counted.
And the hope we have during this anxious time is the very same that will lift us up in the future, as we fight for the survival of the wild at home and in the world beyond.
I want to take a moment to celebrate the sweat and toil of the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, our C4. Along with many supporters and tireless volunteers, our sister group made a Herculean effort in the battle for the presidency, the Senate, and to bring wolves back to Colorado. We invested tens of thousands of dollars and countless staff hours — and together with allies, made more than 2 million phone calls. This helped flip Senate seats from Republican to Democrat in Colorado and (we hope) Arizona, and when the counting's done, should require that wolves be reintroduced to Colorado.
Center staff also shed light on the atrocities taking place at the state's border with Mexico — and we know Arizonans are listening.
We're still here, and we’ve got each other.
The Center's advancing more than 150 court cases in defense of the wild to stop everything from trophy hunting of wolves and bears in Alaska to international exploitation of pangolins, the world's most trafficked mammal.
Come what may, we'll never give up the fight.
Stay strong and stay hopeful — and know that in the end it will always be our love, not our hate, that defines us.
For the wild,
Kierán Suckling
