Team,
While we may not know the full results of the presidential election yet, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for believing in this movement and powering my people-first campaign to victory in Washington's Seventh Congressional District. We did it decisively with 85% and more than 345,000 votes already counted for us. I am humbled, grateful and ready to serve again.
I know that everyone is waiting anxiously on the national results. Be patient, be calm and stay hopeful. It will take time to get results -- but our votes will be counted and our voices will be heard. As we wait, I want to share my thoughts with you and answer your questions -- please join me on Facebook Live today at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET: [link removed]
No matter what happens in the presidential election, we must continue organizing and keeping our progressive momentum high while remembering that without young people, people of color, working people and the most vulnerable, we do not win. We must continue organizing for people-first policies that make opportunity for all a reality, finally reckon with white supremacy and anti-Blackness and chart a course that never, ever leaves even one of us behind. Never forget that we are bold, progressive and unafraid -- and if we believe in the possible and organize to achieve it, we win!
I'm ready to get to work on a robust COVID-19 relief package that matches the scale of this crisis, on health care, on creating good jobs that pay a living wage, on passing humane immigration reform, on transitioning to a renewable energy future, on making higher education accessible to all, on taking on the corruption we saw flourish in the Trump administration and on doing everything necessary to protect our democracy for generations to come.
I'll discuss some of these issues, results and more on Facebook Live today at 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET. Join here and be sure to bring any questions you have: [link removed]
Thank you for everything you did to make our victory possible. I will never stop fighting for the people of Washington's Seventh Congressional District, those across our state and everyone throughout this country. Our power is in our hands; and when we exercise that power, there is nothing that can stop us on the road to justice.
More soon,
Pramila Jayapal
