As we emerge from the Election Day haze of yesterday, the outcome may not be confirmed yet, but our mission remains the same. We are committed to fighting for transgender people and their rights.
As we count every ballot to confirm the final total, we also must celebrate the record high turn-out, the unprecedented community engagement, and the enthusiasm among first-time voters and those previously disenfranchised. Trans people and our allies came out in force, made our voices heard, and through our vote, let everyone know we all deserve leaders focused on respect, fairness, and unity for all Americans.

This process might take a little longer that we want, but it’s working as it’s designed to. Every state has in place processes to ensure ballots are counted and that the election is accurate and secure. NCTE is closely monitoring the final vote count to confirm the will of the people and ensure that transgender Americans are not erased.
Regardless of the outcome of this election, the path ahead is lined with challenges and triumphs that we will face head-on. We will continue to speak up, demand equality, and fight for justice. Just like we always have. But we need your help, John.
