friend,

If you are feeling anything like I am at this moment, then you are experiencing the tension of Election Night and our democracy hanging in the balance.

Here is what I know to be true. Our movements are strong. Our organizers, activists, and visionaries are committed, strategic, and rigorous. While the anxiety of waiting for a decision is real and intense, so many of us have been behind the scenes planning for all kinds of outcomes.

Take a moment. Inhale, exhale, and unclench your jaw. Give your shoulders permission to release.

While the challenges are great, our collective power is greater. Regardless of who wins the 2020 Presidential Election, our work to confront the corruption of the Koch Network continues. The financial investments of the Koch brothers and their broader networks have produced clear outcomes. Evidence of their corruption can be found impacting our climate, voting, the media, and social and economic progress. If I’ve learned one thing about money and budgets as the Executive Director of UnKoch My Campus, it is this: where we invest our money is a moral choice. We can use our privilege and resources to transform the world for the better or plunge our society into deeper suffering.

To that point, I’m asking you to consider making a donation to fund our work. UnKoch My Campus is a unique project. Our work cannot be “easily” defined to foundation funders who don’t already know why the Koch Network is a threat --which is why we heavily rely on grassroots, small donors to generously resource our campaigns. We use those grassroots donations to grow our activist base, contribute to coalition wins, and discover other donors (grassroots and institutional) who are aligned with our vision.

We are working toward a world where education is reclaimed as a public good and our institutions of education are no longer auctioned off to the highest bidder. Our educators, students, and communities deserve campuses free of ideological corruption and manipulation. We deserve a democracy that isn’t controlled by dark money donors looking to turn a profit. Will you help us make this vision a reality by donating $10 today?

In this together,

Jasmine Banks, Executive Director
UnKoch My Campus

UnKoch My Campus is a project dedicated to disrupting corporate influence on campuses nationwide by equipping campus activists with education, skills, and ecosystems of solidarity. The Koch network is leveraging its donations to colleges and universities to bolster its corporate agenda to halt action on climate change, put hundreds of thousands of people in prison, deny millions of people healthcare, and strip rights and wages from workers globally. We're building a mass movement of young people who are dedicated to disrupting this harm.
