Dear John ,

Today, you are a winner. After one of our most robust election campaigns, the results are in and we achieved our primary goal – to preserve Gov. Evers’ veto power and set the stage for redistricting to break the gerrymander in our state.

While other states are still counting every vote, it’s also clear Wisconsin has elected Joe Biden for president. The final vote margin is breathtakingly slim – just over 20,000 votes. As one of our 30,000-plus strong members and supporters, you made the difference.

After a very long night, the Wisconsin Conservation Voters team is filled with gratitude. We’re thankful to each and every one of you. Your dedication to protecting Wisconsin’s environment has made the difference so many times, but this election will be marked as one of the most critical in our history.

This year’s successes would not have been possible without the relationships, old and new, we’ve made in communities across the state. We’re extraordinarily proud of fighting with them, learning from them, and standing with them.

We’ll have lots more news, insight, and analysis in the near future. Meanwhile, as of Wednesday afternoon, we’re still waiting for results in certain races, as well as national results in the presidential race.

As we move forward, we face daunting challenges. We’re going to be there every step of the way to ensure we get fair maps in this state to finally break the gerrymander, we’re going to hold politicians accountable for their failures on climate change and public health, and we’re looking forward to deepening our partnerships with the frontline organizations that delivered these victories with us.

There’s not going to be a lot of time for rest, but for now I encourage you to take that deep breath everyone is talking about, get outside, and relish the victories you earned.

Thank you for being a conservation voter,

Kerry Schumann
