Dearest friends,

When I announced that I was running for the United States Congress in May of 2017, I gave a press conference in Dundee in front of my old place of work, Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance. I had never called a press conference before. That day, I promised everyone, and my daughter especially, that we would run a campaign that didn't put winning over integrity. Today, I'm proud to say that we did that.

We fought for working people and for those of us who feel like our voices aren't heard in politics. We rallied support from people and organizations all over the country, and we energized Democrats like never before here in this district. We refused corporate PAC money and didn't sell out to monied interests. We ran ads that we're proud of rather than calling our opponents names and letting surrogates run hit pieces filled with lies and half-truths. We didn't play by the old rules, and I am so proud of my team and our message.

I'm also proud that our team was instrumental in delivering an electoral college vote to Joe Biden. As we wait for the results to come in, this may be even more important than any of us could have imagined.

I want to thank all of you. Thank you for believing in me and contributing to our campaign and volunteering your time. You've made me the happiest person in the world and I am so honored that you put your faith and trust into this campaign. Our work isn't finished. When you fight for justice and honesty you don't give up that fight.

Thank you. It's been an honor and I'll talk to you soon. :)
