Hi John,
I know a lot of you might feel anxious, scared, or hurt. While it seems Joe Biden is going to win (!!), a lot of people voted to re-elect Donald Trump, and it
really sucks to know where so many of our neighbors stand on the issues facing the nation.
But I've got a silver lining for anyone who needs one: As of earlier this morning, you all helped elect 106 Run for Something candidates to down-ballot races nationwide. That's 106 diverse, young progressives now building permanent, sustainable power for our communities.
If you want to get to know them and about the change they plan to enact, check out our full list of winners (so far) here!
As of now, this year's winners are nearly two-thirds women and two-thirds BIPOC, and at least 20% LGBTQ.
All in all, Run for Something has elected more than 400 people in our first four years, and we expect that number to grow exponentially, especially over the next few days and weeks.
This is all to say that you should
never lose hope for the future.
Our candidates -- especially the county, school board, and municipal folks -- bucked trends nationwide. They made history. They show us all what new leadership can look like.
We're building the bench for federal seats and our candidates are rebuilding a relationship between communities and their government. All of that was possible because you and thousands of other grassroots progressives give a damn about down-ballot races.
Thank you for helping change America for the better. I’ll let you know as soon as we have new updates.
