John,

This year, we saw a historic number of Kansans turning out to vote and make their voices heard. I'm proud of every single person who showed up and made their voices heard.

I want to offer my congratulations to all of the victorious State House and Senate candidates. We saw some incredible victories last night, and we deserve to celebrate those victories.

Congratulations are also in order for Congresswoman Sharice Davids on her well-earned re-election. And to Barbara Bollier, for running an extremely hard-fought race for the US Senate, and to Mayor Michelle De La Isla, Laura Lombard, and Kali Barnett on being part of a historic slate of women candidates and elevating issues of substance.

As we wait for the remaining results in Kansas and across the country, I urge you to be patient and cautious until every single ballot has been counted. I am confident that when all votes are counted, the overwhelming will of the people will be clear.

I'm looking forward to welcoming the new and returning legislators back to the Kansas Statehouse in January. Whether we are from the same political party or not, I am confident we can work together to improve the lives of all Kansans. Together, we will be able to deliver results for Kansans by continuing to fight the spread of this virus while working to keep our schools fully funded, improving our infrastructure, growing our economy, and providing health insurance to 150,000 Kansans by expanding Medicaid.

Our democracy must work for all of us and must include all of us. I will do my part to ensure that every vote is counted because every vote counts.

Thank you,

Laura
