No matter the outcome, this is the call for our work to defend human rights.

From the Desk of Bob Goodfellow, Interim Executive Director, Amnesty
International USA
Dear John,
This morning we confront a very painful reminder and reality of the tremendous
amount of work to still be done in the United States to ensure everyone can live
free of racism and discrimination. No matter the outcome, this is the call for
our work to defend human rights. And we will meet it together.
Our researchers are continuing to monitor the situation on the ground, and so
far, we have not seen widespread violence or protest. That may change, and we
will be ready to respond to the situation.
Amnesty International takes no position for or against any candidate, party, or
political ideology. No matter who wins office in this U.S. election, our work
together for human rights will continue.
As events unfold today and throughout the week, please take good care of
yourselves. Take breaks, go for a walk, and be kind to yourselves. The fight for
human rights, equity, and justice demands everything we’ve got — and I know our
community will rise to meet the challenge.
In solidarity,
Bob Goodfellow
Interim Executive Director
