After an unprecedented presidential campaign and historic voter turnout, the 2020 election remains too close to call.
John, the eyes of the world are on the United States now. How we proceed in the hours, days and perhaps even weeks ahead will matter to the health of our democracy and the legitimacy of whoever is ultimately declared the winner.
EDF joins with our environmental coalition partners and with countless other voices across civil society to make sure we #CountEveryVote.
Voting is the most basic element of any democracy - and a full and accurate vote count is the only way to measure the will of the people, which is how we confer political power.
As Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan wrote last week, nothing could be more suspicious or improper “than refusing to tally votes once the clock strikes 12 on election night.” Every valid vote must be counted.
