Team,
Good news: Donald Trump will soon become a lame duck president. This four year nightmare will soon be over and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are on their way to becoming our next President and Vice President.
The results were not quite what we expected, and I can’t pretend I’m not disappointed with some of the results — particularly in Texas and with Latino voters. As a party we must take time to examine where we fell short, and take steps to improve our performance moving forward. But we shouldn’t ignore how significant it is that we will get to say “adiós” to Trump in January.
Last night Trump did exactly what we knew he would do. In the face of results he didn’t like, he attempted to declare victory and cast doubts on the results. He demonstrated once again how unfit he is for the presidency, and how urgent the need to replace him is.
He will continue to cast doubt and declare victory. But he does not have that power — that belongs to the American people. No winner has been declared, but the path to victory is still clear and the votes must be counted.
Team, I wanted to take a minute to say thank you. Thank you for your contributions, your organizing, your passion, and your dedication. Many of our candidates were victorious last night thanks to YOU, and that’s no small feat.
Our brighter days are ahead under a new administration without Donald Trump. We will keep working toward an America where everyone counts, where the most vulnerable Americans are not forgotten, and where people are put first.
Thank you,
Julián
