Dear Friend,
Today, I am optimistic. That’s because despite a hard-fought election and the outcome in many key races still uncertain, we know one thing:
Our LGBTQ community did not sit this election out and we are seeing the results -- some historic wins for LGBTQ candidates and many still to be decided.
In the race for President, it's critical that we remain patient while all the votes are counted and let the facts speak for themselves.
We will not be deterred on our march to full equality and acceptance and when it's all said and done this election year, all indications are we will be in a far better place than where we started it.
I ask you to lock arms with us as we keep the faith, let our democratic process take its proper course, and stand united in the fight for LGBTQ people everywhere. In the meantime, we will be on the frontlines — as we always are — holding the media accountable, standing up for truth and justice, and ensuring that your voice is heard.
Be sure to follow GLAAD on social media to stay up-to-date as we move through the coming hours and days.
In solidarity,
Sarah Kate Ellis
