Hi John - I’m sure that, like me, you’re anxiously awaiting the final results of yesterday’s election. I’ve been through a lot of nail-biting elections over the years. So, I know that what’s most important at this point is to allow the process of fully and fairly counting all votes to play out. We need to be certain that we have respected the voice of the people in choosing their leadership for the next four years. While we wait for the results to be tallied, I ask you to join me in sending a message to both President Trump and former Vice President Biden calling on whoever wins to prioritize kids’ needs. Children here in the U.S. and around the world have been hit particularly hard by the coronavirus pandemic. And too many children were already struggling from the impacts of poverty, systemic racism and violence. Children need leadership at all levels of government and on both sides of the aisle to ensure that they are able to overcome these obstacles to have a brighter future. You contacted more than 273,400 voters by text message and personalized, handwritten postcards. Your efforts made a huge difference in keeping our democracy vibrant during an especially tough year. But now is not the time to rest. We need to keep up our activism for children to show whoever wins the presidential contest that the American public wants kids’ needs to be a priority.
