Dear John: As we await the final results of the presidential election and other races -- and ensure that every vote is counted -- I want to take this opportunity to thank you. In the weeks leading up to the election, you supported our PFLAG Votes 2020 initiative, registering thousands of family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors to vote. You spoke out against voter suppression, shared information on what was at stake in this election, and many of you worked at polling places yesterday to keep the voting process safe and secure. Every vote matters, and now we wait as that process continues -- a process that we always cautioned would take time, beyond November 3rd. I am personally hopeful that, once all votes are counted, we will see a pro-equality administration take office in January 2021. I know many of you are scared or anxious right now, but know this: No matter who takes office in January, PFLAG National will continue to fight for our LGBTQ+ loved ones every place their lives and rights are threatened. In these uncertain times, the support PFLAG provides is going to be even more important than ever before. Please know that PFLAG is here -- and will always be here -- for you and your family. Be patient, stay safe, stay strong. With hope, Brian K. Bond Executive Director, PFLAG National P.S. Remember that we have a huge case--Fulton v. City of Philadelphia--in front of the U.S. Supreme Court today. If you haven’t yet signed up to join the post-argument Town Hall, with legal experts to help us go through the case and talk about outcomes, visit ourdayincourt.org and register now. |
