Last month, the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad received over $2 million in federal funds from the Department of Transportation to assist with safety improvements.

Also, the South Shore Rail Line submitted a formal request for a project rating to receive federal funds for 14 miles of double track to reduce travel times and increase the frequency of services.
