Team,
While we didn’t get the result we wanted, I want to remind you of all there is to celebrate. We’ve built an amazing movement, and empowered so many to get involved with their community and politics at large.
So take a look at all our accomplishments; here are just some of the things we’ve been able to do together:
- 189,638: early votes were cast in the 7th
- 39,856: votes cast by those who stayed home in 2016
- 491,000: the amount of money we outraised Walberg by since announcing
- 175: the number of interns we trained to be the campaign staffers of tomorrow
- 450: the number of volunteers we mobilized
We’ve met first time voters who will become lifelong voters. We’ve shared critical voting infrastructure, like WAVE, to help increase voter turnout for elections to come. We’ve trained more than 150 interns, who will lead the next cohort of tight races across our state and country. Above all else, we gave the 7th district a voice, and sent a clear reminder to the rest of our country that our rural communities are not to be forgotten.
Thank you to the thousands who fought hard. Thank you to our dedicated staff and interns, who gave everything they had to make our democracy better. Thank you to our donors, who recognized the importance of this race to our state and our country. And thank you to all of our tireless volunteers, who knew that investing in the 7th district would help change the trajectory of our country, and make the United States a better place for all.
We still have work to do, so please keep up the fight,
Gretchen
