People For Member, Today, the final outcome of the presidential election remains undecided but one thing is certain: we will not have a valid result until every lawfully cast ballot is counted. And we are winning. Joe Biden looks like he will hold all of the states that Hillary won in 2016, he has already flipped Arizona and Nebraska, and Georgia and North Carolina are still too close to call. Joe is winning the popular vote by more than 2 million votes (which will also grow) AND there are huge buckets of votes still to be counted in Philly, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Atlanta. So Be Hopeful! Be Optimistic! Be Vigilant! Donald Trump has done what he said he would do and falsely declared victory before the results are in. He said he will seek to stop the count of millions of votes outstanding, including in Pennsylvania where some counties only began counting mail-in ballots today. But let me be clear. We were prepared for this. And as Trump and his allies do everything they can to sow doubt and create chaos, we are resolute in our commitment to STOP any effort to steal this election. With our partners, we’re organizing a massive grassroots show of support to attain and protect the honest results of the election … we’re ramping up pressure on social media companies to stop disinformation in its tracks … we’re aggressively countering the lies and tactics of the Radical Right … we’re mobilizing our broad networks of religious and community leaders to demand justice. I remain hopeful that when all the votes are counted, we will have a new president-elect. And I urge you to find patience and calm as we weather the storm together in these next days. We’ve suffered great losses in 2020. We lost my friend John Lewis. We lost Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. We’ve, so far, lost more than 230,000 American lives to Trump’s mismanagement of this pandemic. We will not lose democracy itself. Not on our watch. Things are moving fast, and we’ll have more updates as the situation continues to unfold, but know that we’re still fighting on your behalf and on behalf of our democracy. There will be a lot of work to do in the coming days. Regardless of the ultimate outcome of the race, there will be a lot to unpack and incredibly high-stakes fights on the horizon. We’re so grateful for you and the fact that you’re with us. Stay tuned. More to come. -- Ben Jealous, President P.S.
