The polls are closed. We want to thank all of our amazing candidates, volunteers and supporters who have stood with us in this election cycle.
No one saw the coronavirus pandemic coming and what it would mean for campaigns in 2020 but I am proud that Orange County Republicans quickly adjusted and charged forward.
Tonight's results will begin at 8:05 PM. This will include vote-by-mail ballots, ballots dropped off at vote centers and ballots dropped off at ballot drop boxes. Across the country and in Orange County, Democrats emphasized voting by mail. We expect this first update to lean heavily Democrat.
The second update of the night will come at 9:00 PM which will include in-person voting from October 30th to Election Night. Updates will continue every 30 minutes until all in-person votes have been counted. From when in-person voting started Friday until this afternoon 77,000 more Republicans have voted than Democrats. This is when we will begin to see Republicans make gains and have a clearer picture of the results.
We ask our supporters for patience as this will be a long night and few weeks as every last vote is counted. We are confident the end result will result in victory for our candidates.
Ballots will continue to be counted in the following weeks as vote-by-mail ballots postmarked by Election Day are received. We will be at the Registrar of Voters as ballots are counted to ensure election integrity. If you are interested in helping to fund our ballot integrity efforts please visit ocgop.org/donate.
