Hi John,

Four years ago, I had just cast my ballot for a candidate I thought would become the first woman elected President of the United States.

How I felt, watching those election results roll in, has stayed with me since -- just like it has stayed with you. That feeling drove me to march with millions of other women in Washington DC in January of 2017. It drove me to organize, to protest, and to advocate. And when I had the opportunity to run to be Chair of the Maine Democratic Party during the most consequential election of my lifetime, that feeling pushed me to rise to the occasion.

That feeling has pushed you, too. I know because I have seen it first hand. I saw it in your eyes as you signed up to volunteer for the first time or took to the streets. I heard it in your voice as we talked on the phone about the importance of electing Democrats up and down the ballot. I felt it when checking our online gifts and spotting that first time contribution for $3 -- pitching in everything you could. You knew if we wanted to make sure we never felt that way again, we had to do everything we could.

And now, we are all seeing it at the ballot box. Across Maine and across the nation, we are seeing historic levels of voter participation. Election night looks different than it did in 2016, but this time around as I am watching election results come in, I am feeling hope and gratitude.

Together, we have built organizing communities to fight for what we believe in. Times are tough, but we have shown that no matter what adversity we face, we can come together and develop solutions. And no matter what the results show, we have made progress towards reclaiming the soul of our nation.

I couldn’t be more proud of the work we have done together, or ask for better allies in the work to come. From the bottom of my heart -- and from the whole team at the Maine Dems -- thank you for everything that you do.
