Hi Global Citizen,
As polls begin to close, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for everything you did to get out the vote this year.
You voted. You asked your friends to vote. You shared your voting plans. You volunteered to work at the polls. And you pledged to exercise patience as we wait for Election Day results to roll in. More than 100,000 of you took action, and our partners at HeadCount registered 425,000 people. Thanks to efforts from groups across the country, we expect that more Americans than ever will have their votes counted this year.
And that’s where we are right now — waiting patiently for all of the ballots to be counted so we can be sure that every vote counts. This year there were an unprecedented number of mail-in ballots, so experts predict we likely won’t have the results today. And that’s ok. Mail-in ballots take longer to count, and several states have laws preventing them from being counted any sooner than today. Because of that, we have one more thing we all need to do.
Please take a moment to remind your friends and family on social media about this expected delay in results by reading and sharing this article, and reminding them results may not come as quickly this year.
Thanks for all that you do!
