Here at MCV, we're going on strike for the climate — and we hope you will join us.

This Friday, millions of people will be walking out of their homes and workplaces to join young people all across the planet to demand that our leaders address the climate crisis and end the age of fossil fuels.

In Maine, climate activists have organized marches from Portland to Machias to help lift up the voices of the young climate strikers who are counting on us to stand with them to take action on the climate. 

Below is a list of strikes happening across the state this Friday. Click the link for the strike nearest you to learn more and RSVP today. 

Portland Strike:

• Time: September 20, 12pm to 1pm (folks are encouraged to start gathering at 11:30am) 
• Location: Portland City Hall (389 Congress St, Portland, ME 04101)

Farmington Strike:

• Time: September 20, 12pm to 1pm
• Location: Farmington Town Hall, Outside the Gazebo (153 Farmington Falls Rd, Farmington, ME 04938)

Bar Harbor Strike:

• Time: September 20, 12pm to 1pm 
• Location: Village Green (26 Mount Desert Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609)

Bangor Strike:

• Time: September 20, 11am -12pm 
• Location: Bangor High School (885 Broadway, Bangor, ME 04401) 

Norway Strike: 

• Time: September 20, 4:30pm 
• Location: Longley Square Park (off Main St. Norway) 

Machias Strike: 

• Time: September 20 and 27, 1:30-2:30pm 
• Location: Demonstrating on the Rt 1 dike in Machias (If any local schools are walking out we will support their efforts and join them, in which case we will send out another announcement with a location change)

As climate activist Greta Thunberg said, "I want you to act as if our house is on fire. Because it is."
