I would have never thought that, just 10 years after waking up at Walter Reed having lost both of my legs to a bomb explosion, I would be representing our community in the United States House of Representatives.
But by the grace of God, I have been able to continue my service to this nation, and I am thankful that every day for the past few years, I have been able to help our community through the good times and the bad.
Frankly, that’s what is at stake in this election. My opponent says that if you don’t vote for her or donate to her she won’t listen to you. She’s called Republicans “racist,” “traitors,” “stupid” and more. How can she serve our community when she so clearly despises and demonizes more than half of us?
Perhaps worst of all, she’s promised to ram through a tax increase of more than $3,000 per family as we’re still all fighting to recover from the coronavirus pandemic. She said she would have opposed the economic stimulus passed by Congress and now she wants to increase taxes on top of that!
That being said, with just hours left to vote, Florida is a true “toss up.” I know you’re probably busy, but please - make time today to vote. Especially now, and in this state, it will make a huge difference both for your tax bill and the future of our nation.
