Dear John,
Today Americans across the country are going to the polls and will be exercising our cherished democratic freedom to make our voices heard, something many people have died for, throughout the world. We pray that the outcome of this election will be clear and decisive, that our streets will return to quiet and calm, and that the most qualified men and women will be victorious at the ballot box.
Irrespective of who wins in today’s elections, you should rest assured that there will be one think tank and policy institute in Washington, that has certain, immutable red lines. EMET will never countenance allowing the United States to grovel to Iran, and just for the sake of claiming to make a deal, allow for provisions which would enable the Islamic Republic to develop missiles, or to have the deal “sunset” within a predetermined amount of time, irrespective of their compliance to the deal. EMET would never countenance returning to the failed Oslo paradigm that had elevated the Palestinian status throughout the world, as they continued to refuse offers that competed against one another for their generosity, and as the world rewarded their intransigence. All the while, the Palestinians have duplicitously incited their own people to despise Israelis and Jews, incited for terrorism, and rewarded terrorists and their families with exorbitant payments for murder.
Despite the fact that we have known immutable “red lines” and that this has been a highly charged electoral season, EMET has maintained excellent relationships with members of Congress and staffers on both sides of the aisle.
The reason why is because they crave substance. We do not give them one-sided, ideological fluff, but rather delve deep into the issues and deliver empirical facts and substance. We have managed to have meetings almost every single day since the pandemic began with congressional staffers on both sides of the aisle. Here are some of the things we are currently working on:
* Educating Congress and the public about the 150,000 Hezbollah missiles that are staring down at Israel from their northern border and the intimate relationship ([link removed]) that Hezbollah has with the Lebanese Armed Forces. EMET teamed up with Congress to co-author a Congressional letter ([link removed]) to Secretary Pompeo requesting that U.S. financial military assistance to the LAF be suspended until we are certain that none of those funds will benefit Hezbollah directly, or indirectly.
* Educating Congress and the public about the Iranian and Venezuelan connection ([link removed]) and their plans to threaten mainland U.S.A. by stationing intercontinental ballistic missiles in Latin America. EMET teamed up with members of Congress to co-author a Congressional letter ([link removed]) , presenting a case for why we believe that this is an imminent threat, and asking the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense to devise a plan to address this concern.
* Educating Congress and the public about the legal mandate for Israel to have a qualitative military edge, and how with the sale of F-35’s to the UAE, how Israel might need the stealth capability of the F-22’s.
* Educating Congress and the public about Turkey’s affiliation with Hamas ([link removed]) or the Muslim Brotherhood and its hegemonic desires, as well as its recent presence within the Palestinian territories and how we should be working on a mechanism to expunge Turkey from NATO.
* Educating Congress and the public about Qatar’s duplicitous behavior ([link removed]) , and about how its vast gas fortunes have underwritten Hamas, ISIS, Al Quaeda, Jubit al Nusra, as it whitewashes itself through Al Jazeera in the West, and other social media outlets.
* Educating Congress and the public about the continuous growth of Iran’s nuclear stockpile ([link removed]) of highly enriched uranium, which the IAEA had said in September is enough for three nuclear bombs, its building of an underground facility in Natanz, and Israel’s need for bunker busting bombs.
* Educating Congress and the public about the abject failure of the Oslo paradigm ([link removed]) , and that the pursuit of peace should not be solely linked to the Palestinian issue, and needn’t run though Ramallah, but through other Sunni capitals who are eager to work with Israel.
* Working with Congress to raise awareness and act upon the extradition of Ahlam Tamimi. We co-authored the Congressional letter ([link removed]) to Jordanian Ambassador Dina Kawar to demand the extradition of Ahlam Tamimi. This letter caused waves and applied pressure on Jordan for a response. As a result, Jordan expelled Ahlam Tamimi's husband from Jordan as a way to alleviate U.S. pressure, as a direct result of EMET's contributions.
* Educating Congress and the public about the failure of our Title VI Middle Eastern Studies programs ([link removed]) , the complete lack of a diversity of perspectives of thought within the university, and particularly within these Middle Eastern Studies programs.
* Educating Congress and the public about the foreign funding that has underwritten much of these programs, as well as the amount of money, particularly from Qatar ([link removed]) , that has been going to our nation’s public school kindergarten through 12th grade students, and how this foreign funding into our nation’s schools has got an agenda, and that this has got to stop.
* Educating Congress and the public about the need for dissidents living in the Middle East to be able to have normalized relationships with Israelis, without fear of putative actions from their governments.
All of this requires a tremendous amount of assiduous work, time for research and writing, and the delicate facility to be able to frame an argument in a way that resonates and engenders support from both sides of the political aisle.
But we simply cannot do this without your help. Unfortunately, the economic devastation of COVID-19 has affected the ability of some of our wealthiest benefactors to be able to support and sustain our work. We are asking for every one of you to pitch in to help make up for the deficit. We are asking every one of you to please help support our critically important work to the best of your ability.
We pray that the best and most qualified candidates for all of the various races be successful at the ballot boxes today, and that calm and order are restored to America’s streets.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Sarah Stern
