John, I wanted to reach out one final time before the polls close today.
In the final stretch of this campaign, I've been pretty intentional about centering myself on why I got into this race in the first place. Recently, while touring the district, I met a really awesome little guy named Trenton at one of our events. After reflecting on the interaction, I wanted to share it with you all as we await the outcome.
I met Trenton at a meet-and-greet in New Canton just before we kicked off the event. I went to say hello, and he started to pepper me with tough questions. In particular, he wanted to test my familiarity with characters from the Avengers. I'm proud I got most of them correct, although I'm still kicking myself for missing a fun fact about Drax.
Talking to him was a poignant reminder about why we are doing this. It's about the power of representation. It's about connecting with every single person on a real level. It's about meeting the people of Virginia's 5th District exactly where they are--no matter their age, race, income or county. To me, all of that is the key to helping us build a country where everyone has access to opportunities for health and success.
I know that we can't fix all of our problems with one election. But I truly believe that we can start making progress by electing leaders who are willing to have tough conversations about the issues that matter most and, sometimes, playful conversations with future voters like Trenton about the Avengers.
I believe that we can do so much together, and I know the voters of VA-05 believe that too. So thank you for all of your support in helping us get this message out across the district. With your help we've shown kids like Trenton that they can be anything they set their mind to and they can make a difference by getting involved.
Thank you, and talk soon!
