At Flippable, we’re working to flip states blue—so we can build a strong progressive bench for the next 50 years!
Serving at the state level gets political up-and-comers ready to run for national office. Democratic leaders like Mazie Hirono, Maxine Waters, and Patty Murray made their way to the national stage via state governments.
The more Dems we have in state government now, the more Dems we’ll have ready to run for Congress & the presidency in the future. Unfortunately, we have a lot of catch-up to do: Republicans have 500 more state legislators in their pipeline right now.
The good news? Dems have been running in record numbers since the 2016 elections—and they’ve been winning!

- More women, people of color, and openly LGBTQ+ legislators are running—and making history

State elections cost $150K (on average). That’s one-tenth the cost of a congressional race—and one-hundredth the cost of a Senate race! Every dollar of your grassroots donation can go a lot farther in state elections.
And your time on the campaign trail can pay big dividends. Research from the nonprofit sector tells us that one hour of volunteer time produces about $24 in value for campaigns.
