Dear
John,
Today we vote.
Tomorrow we
organize.
It’s election day in the U.S. and we love that a mass of
CODEPINKers have already voted, and many more are marching to the
ballot box today! We can’t endorse any of the Presidential candidates
— by law, we’re actually not allowed to endorse any candidate — but we
know that the outcome of the election will be better if we all go out
and vote our conscience up and down the ballot.
We thought the 2016 election was bumpy, stressful, emotional, and
unlike any other, and now here we are in 2020, in the middle of a
pandemic with cities boarded up in preparation for post-election
fallout.
No matter who wins or what happens, the time is not for
despair but for hope and action. CODEPINK will be here to
cultivate community, foster love, and build peace, in our streets, in
Congress, and around the world. We are ever more determined to lead
forward, knowing that yes we can build a more peaceful and just world
at home and abroad. Find out where
to vote here. Don't forget to check out our page
of resources for taking care of yourself and your
community during and after the election. We also invite you to join
our Election
Night Peacemakers Watch Party here.
It's more important than ever before that we continue our
work — and we are not backing down. Whoever wins the
election, we’ll continue organizing virtually, in person, and in the
streets. We will continue calling for an end to the war in Yemen, to
lift sanctions on Iran and Venezuela, to free Palestine, stop arming
the Middle East, and stop funding the Pentagon and weapons
manufacturers. We’ll be pushing for peace with China, advocating for
imprisoned women rights activists in Saudi Arabia, and demanding that
the U.S. be a Good Neighbor with Latin America.
CODEPINK was founded in a moment of deep crisis, and no
matter what the future holds, we will continue to lead
forward.
In solidarity,
Angela, Ann, Ariel, Carley, Caty,
Cody, Danaka, Emily, Farida, Jodie, Kelsey, Koohan, Leila, Leonardo,
Maxine, Mary, Medea, Michelle, Nancy, Paki, Teri, and
Yousef
