Environmental Champion,

Don't forget to return your ballot to a dropbox [[link removed]] by 8pm tonight - today is the last day to return your ballot and cast your vote in this historic election.

From our whole team at Washington Conservation Voters, we wanted to send a note of gratitude for all of your hard work this election cycle. While there is still work to do to make sure that every vote is counted, we want to encourage you to take time to care for yourself and your community today.

Set aside time to move, treat yourself to your favorite comfort food, spend some time with a loved one, or simply sit quietly for a minute and ground yourself in your breathing. Do whatever will bring you joy, finding a quick moment of peace before an evening you may find stressful.

While we will know the results of some races tonight, both nationally and in local Washington State races, we likely will not know the outcome of all the races we are watching. Election officials will take the time that their job demands to count every vote, verify the results, and get it right. The first results in Washington will come shortly after 8:00 PM tonight and will roll in throughout the evening. We're likely to get every county in by about 10:00 PM, but that will be the only results tallied for this evening.

Ballot counting will resume the next morning, with county offices working 9-to-5 to make their way through everyone's ballot. Expect these one-time daily returns to come throughout the afternoon and be posted on the Secretary of State's website [[link removed]] usually after 4:30 PM. Be prepared for several days of vote counting. It’s important to let you know that in Washington, it's likely to be a long few days, not just a long night before all elections are decided, since Washington has a history of close elections.

Please follow our social media channels (such as our Twitter [[link removed]], Instagram [[link removed]], and Facebook [[link removed]]) for election updates.

Thank you for taking care of yourself and your communities, and for upholding our democracy by counting every vote.

Onwards,

Emily Krieger
