This is it, John.
Whether you have a voting plan yet or not, this email is a one-stop-shop for everything you need to make a plan and vote safely. Please read all the way to the end and forward it to your friends.
Important: District of Columbia allows same day voter registration. To learn more about how to register if you’re not already, click here.
Make a voting plan:
- Check your status: If you’re not sure if you’re registered, click here, or else skip to step two.
- Find your polling location or where to drop off your mail-in ballot: Type in your address here and you’ll find where to go vote or deliver your ballot. Be sure to check what times the polls close.
- Check your state’s rules to know what to bring: You might need an ID to vote, so be sure to check.
- Stay in line: If you’re in line before the polls close, you have the right to vote!
- Bring a mask, water, and some snacks: Lines could be long, but please stay in line. You might also consider bringing a chair.
If you’ve already voted, you can track your ballot and make sure it’s been counted here.
Here is a list of key voting reminders and resources:
- If you make a mistake on your ballot, ask for a new one.
- If the machines are down at your polling place, ask for a paper ballot.
- If you run into any problems or experience any voter suppression, call the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE.
- Wear something neutral. Leave the political clothing at home.
- Take care of yourself and others. If you can, offer rides to friends and family to the polls, pass out food or water, and make a plan to support your community in the weeks ahead.
