From the personal desk of Kate Bolz
Dear friends,
Was anybody else too excited to sleep last night, or was that just me?
Today is the BIG DAY. Election Day 2020. The day we’ve been waiting for since we launched our campaign thirteen months ago, since the current administration was elected four years ago, since Fortenberry took office sixteen years ago.
A couple housekeeping items before today gets too crazy:
– It is not too late to VOTE – click here to find your polling place, which will be open until 8 PM tonight. This is priority #1.
– Click to volunteer today, whether you can spare a few hours or a few minutes. If that’s not an option, consider a $7 donation to fund our last-minute get-out-the-vote efforts.
Now, the real reason I’m emailing today: to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Words cannot express my gratitude for all of you who have stepped up in any way: volunteering, chipping in, spreading the word to friends and family, attending a Tailgate with Kate or a Share the Mic event, or simply standing alongside me on this journey.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking a chance on this farm kid from Palmyra.
We ran the strongest Democratic campaign this district has seen in years.
We advocated for health care, lower drug costs, public schools, agriculture, clean energy, civil rights, unions, bipartisanship, and the good of all of our neighbors who deserve better than business as usual.
We gave Jeff Fortenberry a run for his money and held our own against him in two debates.
We earned endorsements from both major Nebraska newspapers, from Bob Kerrey, Joe Biden, and even friends and coworkers of Fortenberry himself.
We raised over one million dollars. One million dollars!
We energized thousands of voters in Nebraska’s 1st District who haven’t felt heard for a very long time.
We adapted through a global pandemic to run a safe, responsible, and innovative campaign for the people.
Win, lose, or draw, this movement has already changed our community for the better.
I’ll keep in touch as we know more today. We might not have a final count by this evening, which is okay – I’m with you until the very end.
Let’s go win this thing.
In tremendous gratitude,
Kate Bolz
